Without really intending to do so, I've accumulated several interesting pieces of tube, tube tester, radio & early TV related ephemera over the years. I did mention some of this in an earlier post.
The pieces include troubleshooting wheels, signs, pamphlets, brochures, booklets, datasheets, advertising pieces, posters, etc.
Is there any group interest in this? I could post some photos. I no longer have a working flatbed scanner at home, but I do have limited access to one at work if anyone wants scans of certain items.
I'd also be very interested in seeing your ephemera collections.
As part of my quest to fill up the drug store tube tester (still in need of about 100 tubes) I recently purchased another rather full tube caddy off CL. Besides getting a lot of additional needed tubes from the latest bargain, I also scored some interesting items. A couple vintage rubber tube pullers, branded RCA and GE. Also a vintage price list, a couple substitution guides, and a really neat Sylvania "Double" brochure/sub guide, which claims 81 Sylvania Double tube numbers will sub for over 200 that are currently in your inventory. It's shaped like a vacuum tube and folds out to several pages. Very cool.
Anyone have any experience cleaning decades of dirt off paper, non-destructively? The cover of this guide is very dirty and I'd like to restore it to a more presentable state. I'm thinking gum rubber eraser to start with, but I am open to your input.
The inside of a tube caddy is a very dirty place!
And for the record, despite the ongoing low-brow noise floor in the group, I am pleased to see nice levels of discussion and interest lately. Gives me some hope that the hobby is *not dead yet*..... with apologies to Monty Python.
