What kind of string to use on dials

On my Zenith TO, I need to replace the dial string. Since I cant repair
the radio till I get my parts order, I thought I'd work on that dial
string. I still need a suitable diagram showing how to install that
string. I also need to know what sort of string to use. Is this
something I can buy at Walmart in the sewing dept., or do I need to buy
it online? (something special made for radios).

I'm also wondering how to get the pointer to the correct place on the
dial? When I removed the chassis, that pointer fell out.
I'm thinking that maybe I need to repair the radio first, so I can get
the dial tuned to a known AM radio station.

* I did watch a youtube video of a guy change that string on a 500
series ZTO, but that 500 has the round dial. I have the slide type.

Dial cord. It's available online from at least several vendors. Can I introduce you to Google?

I always used braided fishing line.

I'm not a fisherman. What do I look for? (Brand, size, material, etc).

I assume any sporting goods store or maybe even Walmart has it...

Thanks

a) I sent you a link to Sam's dial string handbook. The 600-series ZTO is in there. Look in the index.

b) Dacron fishing line comes in many sizes and weights. You participated in at lease one other discussion that included this information.

c) And, of course, as Terry suggests, there are search engines.

I have not yet downloaded it. I tried at home and on my dialup it would
take over 3 hours. I have to go to the library, but I have not had time.
Maybe this weekend I can get there.

I dont know where this other discussion was, but if you know the size
and weight of that Dacron to use, I'm listening. Like I said in a prior
reply, I am not a fisherman. I only know that fishing line is very
strong.
